Whitehaven is a great place, with plenty of friendly
pubs and a thriving tourist trade… but no locally brewed beer!
Two years ago, we decided to do something about this,
and so we founded The Whitehaven Brewing Company.
It’s taken us this long to find suitable premises
– a converted barn in the Ennerdale valley which has it’s
own pure spring water supply.
Then we had to source and install a 10 barrel brew
plant and carry out extensive testing of new recipes which combine
the best of the traditional brews from the area with modern technology
to give consistency and cater for today’s real ale tastes.
The end result of this is ‘Ennerdale’,
our first brew, a light bitter with an A.B.V. of 3.9% It will be
available throughout West Cumbria, in selected pubs and clubs, and
from Spring 2008 in bottles.
Our online shop will open in 2008.
